  • Born and raised in Singapore, the one thing that I bought into while growing up was the cookie-cutter definition of success (perhaps this sounds familiar to some of you) – the busyness that comes with going about the daily grind, seeing a good-sized month-end pay-check in my bank account, a weekend comprising mostly of sleep catch-up sessions that then led to the repeat of this cycle in the week that followed. Up until I lost my myself for 2 years to anxiety disorder and depression.

  • To ignite and support all in the practice of self-enquiry and self-expansion.

    When I started House of Pause, I aim to make it a safe, secular and uplifting space (online and offline) for investigation of self. Through our mindfulness-based sessions, retreats, tools and resources that strive to gently remind the people we serve to find pockets of pauses to reconnect to self.

    One day, I wish that everyone will be on a path of living a conscious and aligned way of life. They authentically find their own unique bearings in life and make ‘pauses’ (slow living) a way of life.

    The guiding ethos we work with includes, free of dogma teaching, non-judgmental listening and communication, gentle compassion in the work, respect and privacy.

  • What I promise you is that I am not here to be a know-it-all, nor am I a person to heal all your pain away. If you come to me for that, I’m sorry, please don’t. I am not here to advocate any quick fixes like ‘Master Meditation in 28 days’ because it propagates the idea that one can achieve aspirational wellness (whether it's physical or mental) within an impossibly short duration of time.

    What I want for you is to see your breakdown, your stressors, as a blessing and an initiation to learn and grow from it all. I want you to find the courage to see, meet and know your real self and let all the unnecessary noise fade away. I want you to believe that the power to find your inner equilibrium and fulfilment is already within you. And I am here as a guide, a bridge for you to come back to yourself.

WHY MINDFULNESS
& MEDITATION

Manage Anxiety and Instil Calm

Meditating for just 10 minutes daily can reduce blood pressure by relaxing the nerve signals that coordinate heart function and the ‘fight-or-flight’ response that increases in stressful situations. This way it improves resilience to reactivity, allowing increased tranquility and positive emotions.

Reduce Stress

When faced with increased levels of stress, your body produces more stress hormone, cortisol. This can disrupt sleep, increase blood pressure, anxiety and brain fog. In an 8-week study, meditation has shown to reduce this stress hormone and significantly stress-related conditions.

Enhance self-awareness

Meditation can help you learn more about yourself. This is a great starting point to know what your strengths and weaknesses and start making positive changes to your life. You will notice how the practice will positively spill over into your career, relationships and more.

Reverse patterns of worry and negativity

One study found that people who meditate can recognise thoughts that are self-defeating. The practice helps you gain greater awareness to your thoughts patterns helping you to then steer them towards a more constructive patterns and allow a more positive outlook in life.

    We resonated with the saying ‘one size fits all usually leads to mediocrity’. When we work alongside you individually or in a group setting, we work on your own pace, preferences and monitor progression each week.

  • This applies to our group classes.

    We pride in our 4 persons only in each class. By keeping to a small number of individuals, groups and number of classes a week, we know that we are holding the space mindfully with closer attention and interaction within the community.

  • All our offerings are essentially a safe space for one to halt, elevate your overall well-being and deep-dive into the magic within yourself. It is where you allow a certified and licensed guide to support you via an array of secular and effective tools and techniques such as breath work, somatic practices, meditation and more.
